FAW Trophy draw hands Presteigne a home tie

Presteigne St Andrews FC
A home tie in the FAW Trophy

Presteigne St Andrews FC will have home advantage in their FAW Trophy first-round tie in which they will take on Cornelly United at Llanandras Park on Saturday, 17 September.

The overwhelming feeling among the committee, management and players will probably be: ‘At last – a home tie!’ as the draws haven’t been too kind to us in recent times.

After being in the northern section of the Welsh Cup draw, Presteigne St Andrews  found themselves back in the south for this one as Cornelly United are members of the Port Talbot League where they play in the Premier Division.

Statistics for the current season are hard to come by, but it appears Cornelly finished fifth in the seven-team Premier Division last season.

If you fancy taking a look at the Port Talbot League website then you can do so by clicking here, but as I say, there is little information on the current season.

As for some of our local rivals, well, Newbridge will head to Cathays Tenants, while Llandrindod Wells will have home advantage for their first-round tie in which they will take on Fleur De Lys.

Rhayader Town will be on their travels in the first round – they will head to Margam Youth Centre.
