Reserves to take centre stage

The home supporters will be able to cast an eye over the Reserves this weekend

Presteigne Reserves will be the main focus of attention for the club’s supporters this weekend when they will host Llandrindod Wells Reserves at Llanandras Park on Saturday, 29 October.

The Spar League Cup first round takes place this weekend, but Presteigne St Andrews have been handed a bye and so Trevor Gummer’s side has a rare weekend off.

So, step forward Stuart Skidmore’s Reserves side and here’s hoping they can bring to an end a disappointing recent run of form that has seen them take only one point from the last 15 available.

As for Llan’dod Reserves, well, they are used to away matches – this weekend’s game will be their eighth fixture on the road out of the 12 they will have played.

Despite the lack of home games, the Spa second string have made a very solid start to the season and are currently seventh in the table with 16 points – four places and six points better off than Presteigne Reserves.

While the precise details of ‘Skiddy’s’ squad are not yet known, it was anticipated that Adriano Girolami might figure so he could get a game under his belt following his return to the club.

One thing is for sure, with the first team not having a game, there should be no problem in fielding the full complement this week and this in itself should come as something of a relief to the Ressies’ boss as there have been times this season when he has had to work manfully to put out a side.

The kick off at Llanandras Park on Saturday afternoon will be at 2.30pm and admission prices to the game will be £2.00 for adults and £1.00 for senior citizens and youngsters under the age of 16.
