Presteigne St Andrews might have been beaten 2-0 at home by Knighton Town in Saturday’s second division cup tie against old rivals Knighton Town, but manager Trevor Gummer was far from downhearted.

Trevor felt his side had created good chances in the match before Knighton rattled home two quick first-half goals that took the match away from them.

He was quick to give credit to Knight’s Aaron Stewart for the first goal – Trevor felt he might not score a better one in his career, although he felt the penalty decision against Alan Stocker was soft.

“Corin Jones looked as though he was already going down before the challenge was made but, having said that, I can see why the referee gave it,” he said.

“To be fair, I thought the ref had a good game and got most of the big decisions right for both sides.

“But we started the game really well and had chances to have gone in front before they scored – if one of those chances goes in then it could have been a very different game,” he added.

There is a detailed match report on Saturday’s game on the first team page of the site, while if you click on the image alongside either that story or this one, then you can hear an audio interview with Trevor that was done immediately after the game.
