Preview of the weekend action

Presteigne St Andrews FC
There could be changes to the first team for Saturday

Presteigne St Andrews will head to Meifod on Saturday, 31 March for what will be – unfortunately – a bottom-of-the-table clash in the Spar Mid Wales League second division.

It is, of course, in no way over-egging the pudding to say that our season has not exactly been a classic, but  for Meifod, things have been even more taxing.

They have managed only one win in 20 league games so far this season and have shipped 94 goals in the process, including seven when they visited Llanandras Park earlier in the season.

The, to further compound their misery at the foot of the table, they were deducted three points for failing to fulfil a fixture and so remain rock bottom of the table with only one point.

But Meifod will definitely have had the visit of Presteigne circled on the fixture list as being one to win as they will appreciate better than most that we have not exactly been pulling up too many trees ourselves this season.

Manager Trevor Gummer tells me he is planning on making changes to his starting line up for this one with some of those Reserve-team players who impressed in the Otway Cup semi-final defeat by Knighton Town likely to be given their chance.

Meanwhile, it will be a quick turn around for the Reserves against Knighton Town as the sides are due to meet at Llanandras Park for the second league meeting in only eight days.

Knighton won the first game 3-1 at Bryn-y-Castell, so Stuart Skidmore’s side will have the opportunity to redress the balance in this one.

The kick off for the Reserves’ Mid Wales League (South) game will be at 2.30pm and admission prices will be £2.00 for adults, £1.50 for senior citizens and £1.00 for youngsters under the age of 16.

It is hoped to have results and provisional  match reports up online at some stage on Saturday evening.
