‘All the twos…’

Presteigne St Andrews FC
The Reserves battled out a 2-2 home draw with Knighton Town Reserves

Both of Presteigne St Andrews’ senior sides were involved in two-all draws on Saturday, 31 March, although there will no doubt be contrasting emotions from the respective teams.

The first team headed to bottom side Meifod and early reports suggest this one was far from a classic – that wasn’t quite how it was put to me, but I am sure you get the drift.

Trevor Gummer’s side found themselves a goal down at half-time, but Merv Stephens then netted to put them back on level terms.

It was looking good when Joel Layton put Presteigne ahead from what was reportedly the best move of a pretty desperate match, but Meifod then hit back to level the game at 2-2.

Presteigne needed a goal-line clearance to avoid falling behind, but Meifod were also fortunate when a Presteigne effort came back off the post.

Meanwhile, the Reserves were in action at Llanandras Park where they took on Knighton  Town Reserves for the second time in as many Saturdays.

Alan Stocker and Duane Anning were the Ressies’ scorers in this one as Stuart Skidmore’s side produced an improved result on a week ago.

Then, they were beaten 3-1 at Bryn-y-Castell, so a point from today’s 2-2 draw was definitely a step in the right direction.

There will be more detailed match reports up online as soon as the information arrives in my inbox – I am aware I have a couple of Ressies’ reports to put up – these will appear in the next day or so.
