Presteigne St Andrews has run an Under 18s squad in the HFA Junior Floodlit League, but this year a lack of entries meant this was not going to be viable.
So, this gave a great chance for the club to forge even closer links with the flourishing Colts and Juniors section by offering the chance for the Under 17s to play their home matches on Llanandras Park, rather than their usual home ground of the John Beddoes School field.
Should the conditions mean that Llanandras Park is unplayable at any time, then there is always the option to revert to the school field, but the hope is home games will be on the town ground.
Managed by Haydn Williams and Alan Creighton, the squad has stuck together throughout the age groups and are hoping for a successful season at the higher level.
Such is is the interest in the Under 17s age range across Herefordshire the league has been divided into two sections – the Stirling and HGTA divisions, which are named after the respective sponsors.
Presteigne Colts Under 17s will play in the HGTA section, but there is always the scope to come across teams from the other division during cup competitions.
So, if you would like to see the next generation of Presteigne’s footballing talent coming through, then why not get down to Llanandras Park on a Sunday afternoon for a home game?
