Otway/Sparey Cups

Presteigne St Andrews FC
Both the Otway and Sparey Cups have provided competitive football in recent seasons.

Presteigne St Andrews FC holds two cup competitions of its own during the season and these have always proved popular with local clubs.

The senior clubs in the area play for the Presteigne Otway Cup – one of the oldest cup competitions of its kind in the area.

Junior clubs battle it out for the Alfred Sparey Memorial Cup which is traditionally presented to the winning club by a member of the Sparey family.

Cup secretary Tom Ammonds will preside over these competitions for the 2013-14 season and any clubs interested in taking part are urged to contact him for details.

Local clubs in the Spar Mid Wales League will be invited into the Otway Cup, while Mid Wales League (South) clubs will receive invitations into the Alfred Sparey Cup.

Clubs are urged to reply as soon as possible so that the first-round draws can be made as quickly as possible.

Given the fact Spar Mid Wales League, second division clubs will have fewer league fixtures than in past seasons, it’s hoped there will be additional interest in the Otway Cup.
