Disappointment under the Llanandras Park lights

Presteigne St Andrews FC went down 4-1 in their Spar League Mid Wales, second-division game against Hay St Marys at Llanandras Park on Friday, 17 October.

Hay led 2-0 at half-time, but Presteigne rallied after the interval and got themselves back into the game when Duane Anning reduced arrears.

Duane did well to get himself on the end of a cross from Tom Hooper to head home over the visiting goalkeeper.

But Hay then restored their two-goal advantage to lead 3-1 only for Presteigne to carve out a couple of good opportunities of their own.

The home side was awarded a penalty but sadly Christian Roberts couldn’t convert from the spot and so the chance went begging.

There was then a goalmouth scramble that some fans behind the goal resulted in Presteigne getting the ball over the line, but the referee was unsighted and didn’t give the goal.

Hay St Marys made the game safe with a fourth goal so they maintain their 100 percent record in the Spar Mid Wales League, second division this season.

A reminder that the Reserves will be at home on Saturday, 18 October when they will take on St Harmon in a Mid Wales League (South) match when the kick off will be at 2.30pm.
