What a comeback by the Under 17s – top effort!

The Under 17s produced the comeback performance of this and probably several other seasons as they ran out 5-2 winners in their HFL Junior League match at Pegasus Colts.

It is now back-to-back wins for the Under 17s who are starting to reap the rewards for all the hard work they have put in over the season so far.

Joint-manager Haydn Williams was delighted by both the result and the character shown by his side.

“What a fantastic performance, especially as we were already down to 13 men as Joe Davis had to withdraw in the warm up,” he said.

“Then, to make matters worse, Ollie Marsh was carried off in a first half that saw us lose two goals to that killer ball over the top.

“With no subs we changed the team around at half time and, wow, what a second-half performance.

“Kai [Dayas] scored a great free kick in the first minute and we never looked back  from that point on.

“There were two goals from Josh Gardner, who ripped the defence apart, another from Josh Carini (‘Pidge’) and a superb Justin Davies free kick that gave Peggy no chance.

“We were outstanding to a man – a never-say-die attitude from 1 to 11  we are on song now and players really stepped up today.

“As for the man-of-the match award, this went jointly to Tom Crichton for a superb display in central midfield in the second half – a position he has never played before –  Pidge who worked his socks off and played some fantastic balls to Josh Gardner and Kieran Lusher.

“I should also say a big thanks to Joe Davies who ran the line for me.”
