‘Weedo’ was one happy manager after this Cup win

More now on the Alfred Sparey Cup final success for the Reserves who beat Radnor Valley 5-2 in the final at Llanandras Park.

My grateful thanks to Haydn Williams for supplying his thoughts on what was clearly a highly successful evening for the Reserves in particular and the club as a whole.

“This was a very good performance indeed as Presteigne took the game straight to Radnor and Man of the Match Adam Crowe opened the scoring early on with some great skills in the box,” said Haydn.

“Shaun Prince added a second and Radnor were well and truly on the ropes.

“Then, Callum Mathews weaved his way into the box and was brought down for what was a stonewall penalty, but the Radnor keeper Will Fowden got down brilliantly to save.

“Presteigne continued to pile forward and Liam Hill made a couple of smart saves to keep out the league champions.

“Callum Mathews then scored a brilliant third and the boys were sailing although, just before half-time Radnor got one back.

“Not content to go in with a 3-1 lead, Shaun Prince added a fourth.

“As you would expect, Radnor came out all guns blazing after the break and they hit the woodwork twice.

“Some resolute defending kept them out until the midway point when Radnor scored a great goal floating the ball over Liam.

“Presteigne dug deep and worked so hard with some great tackling and defending all over the park.

“Shaun completed his hat-trick and from there on in it was ‘game over’.

“It was a superb display – manager ‘Weedo’ was delighted and a wild night followed with the cup being filled at least six times in the Farmers so, well done boys!”
