The Kerry game has been called off

Unfortunately the weather has beaten us again and the Spar Mid Wales League, second-division match at home to Kerry on Saturday, 30 January has been called off.

We were told on Friday that the pitch was ‘playable, but still pretty wet in places’ and so there was an element of doubt at this stage.

Anyone in the Presteigne area would tell you that it caned it down from a great height for much of Friday night-Saturday morning and so the decision was pretty much inevitable when the 9.00am inspection was made.

“From the side it didn’t look too bad, but when you got out on to the pitch there were places where it was very wet,” said club secretary, Tom Ammonds.

“It is certainly wetter than when we took on Bettws last weekend and, as we all know, it was heavy going in that game.

“Kerry needed an early call and, even though the weather is far better this morning, there is no realistic chance of the pitch drying out to any great extent between now and kick-off time,” he added.

So, apologies all round, but there was no other option open to those making the inspection.
