Presteigne St Andrews FC’s caretaker manager Tom Ammonds has been talking about the various options open to the committee surrounding the first-team manager’s role.

Tom has been in charge for two matches since Mark Weiland’s resignation and says he’s happy to go along with whatever the committee feels is best.

“Whether we advertise it, I don’t know but presumably I’ll be in charge for Saturday,” he said.

“Dale [Tomkins] will do the Reserves on Saturday so we’ll have plans in place and then we’ll see where we go after Wednesday night.

There is a committee meeting scheduled for Wednesday, 24 August at which the issue is bound to be very near the top of the agenda.

So, would Tom be willing to take on the first-team manager’s job on a more permanent basis?

But the bottom line is that he is certainly not ruling out taking on the role if that is what the committee believes to be the best way forward.

“Yes, I suppose I would on a certain level – it’s not the ideal situation for myself because I wanted to stay with the Reserves,” he said.

“But if it helps the club then I’ll do it and obviously if the lads want me to stay in [charge] then it’s not a problem.”
