A fine win for the Reserves

Presteigne Reserves recorded an impressive win over promotion-hopefuls Talgarth Town in their Mid Wales League (South) game at Llanandras Park on Saturday, 15 April.

Tom Crichton netted the only goal of the game as Dale Tomkins’ side put their recent disappointing run behind them to run out 1-0 winners.

In doing so, they ended Talgarth’s hopes of winning the title as that defeat left them four points off the pace with only one match remaining.

It is now a straight fight between Hay Reserves and Brecon Northcote who are level on points at the top, but Hay have a game in hand.

But the top two will meet at Hay St Mary’s Forest Road ground this coming Saturday – 22 April – in what could effectively become a Championship decider.

As for the Reserves, they now look likely to finish sixth in the table – they will round off their league campaign with a home match against St Harmon at Llanandras Park on Saturday, 22 April.

A win for the Ressies in what will be Dale’s last league game in charge would mean Builth Wells Reserves would have to win both of their final games to deny Presteigne Reserves sixth spot.

Saturday’s game is due to kick off at 2.30pm and the admission prices will be the usual £2.00 for adults and £1.00 for senior citizens and youngsters under the age of sixteen.
