Congratulations to Hay St Mary’s Reserves on their Sparey Cup win

Hay St Mary’s Reserves won the Alfred Sparey Cup when they beat the home club, Presteigne Reserves 1-0 in the final at Llanandras Park on Sunday, 16 April.

Hay were always likely to be favourites for this game as they are going well at the top of the Mid Wales League (South) although the Reserves’ win over Talgarth Town the previous day would have given Dale Tomkins’ side cause for optimism.

Josh Wisniewski scored the only goal of the game in the first half for Hay’s second string who are clearly having a very good season.

But the Reserves put in a competitive performance against one of the division’s better clubs and so will take heart from this as thoughts will now turn towards next season.

Our thanks to Ron Sparey and the Sparey family for their continued support of the competition and for presenting the trophy.

Congratulations to Hay St Mary’s Reserves – well done on your victory.
