Presteigne St Andrews FC will open their Spar Mid Wales League second-division programme on Saturday, 12 August.

They will head to Talgarth Town for their opener with manager Shaun Harris keen to get things off to a positive start.

Training has gone well throughout pre-season and there has been good feedback from players about the warm up to the new campaign so let’s hope this manifests itself when things get underway for real.

It is difficult to read too much into league positions from last season as squads change, but there is no doubt Shaun will be determined to push on from our finishing position of eleventh in a 13-team division.

Talgarth Town are back in senior football this season after a spell in the Mid Wales League (South) so this could prove a testing start for Presteigne as promoted sides can often have that momentum brought on by the previous season’s successes.

Shaun further boosted his squad this week with the signing of the Hay St Mary’s duo Jack Biggs and Rory Hackett and we welcome them both to Llanandras Park.

The kick off at Talgarth Town will be at 2.30pm and it’s hoped we will have the result up 0nline on Saturday evening and some reaction from Shaun at some stage across the weekend.
