Given there was again no outright winner of the Super Lotto jackpot this week, it is almost certain the jackpot will top £10,000 this coming weekend.

So, it seems an appropriate time to outline the rules of the Super Lotto draw for when the jackpot reaches five figures.

You can click here or on the image at the top of the story to watch a video in which ‘Lotto-meister in Chief’ Tom Ammonds explains in detail just how it will work.

In brief, £10,000 is the limit of the Super Lotto licence and so this is the most we can give away at any one time.

So if, as expected, the Super Lotto jackpot passes the 10k limit for the draw on Sunday, 1 October, there will be two draws.

The first draw will be for the £10,000 jackpot and, if there is no outright winner, then there will be a second draw for the new Super Lotto jackpot that will run in tandem with it.

Should the first draw produce an outright winner of the £10,000 first prize, then there won’t be a second draw.

Of course, in theory there could be a situation wherein the £10k draw doesn’t produce an outright winner, but the second draw does.  Should this happen, we would then start another draw alongside the £10,000 prize and so we would hold two draws until such time as the £10k prize is won.

All the details and all the implications of this are explained in the video, so click on it and have a watch – as per usual, you will need your sound turned up on the computer.
