Preview of a busy weekend of action

More floodlit action for the first team

It is Friday night action again for the first team on 13 October and a ‘derby’ game against Knighton Town.

This game is a Spar Mid Wales League Cup tie and is scheduled to kick off at 7.30pm at Llanandras Park.

This will be a very good test for Shaun Harris’ side as Knighton have enjoyed a resurgence under their manager Adam Worton in recent seasons and play a league higher than Presteigne in Spar League, division one.

While the Radnor Robins doubtless have designs on eventually heading into the Cymru Alliance, they will probably admit their form has been a bit in and out so far this time around.

Knighton currently lie in seventh place in the table with four wins and four defeats in their nine games so far.

But they were in sparkling form in their last outing in which they came away from Borth United last weekend with a 7-1 victory.

Now, we all enjoy a day out at the seaside, but that really was taking things to extremes….

But Presteigne will feel they are in a better position to be competitive in this fixture than in recent seasons and Shaun’s squad will come into the game off the back of three successive home victories and four wins in their last five games.

Admission prices for Friday night’s game will be the usual £3.00 for adults; £1.50 for senior citizens and £1.00 for youngsters under the age of 16.  Given we are expecting a larger-than-usual crowd, if you could have the right money with you, it would be very much appreciated by those on the gate.

As for the Reserves, it will be Saturday-afternoon action for them when they will head to Forest Road to take on Hay St Mary’s Reserves.

Mark Weiland and Alan Stocker’s Mid Wales League (South) squad is also finding some form and they will head to Hay off the back of last Saturday’s 5-1 home win over Brecon Northcote Reserves.

The kick off at Forest Road on Saturday will be at 2.30pm.
