Borth game called off due to heavy rain

Standing water in the goalmouths made this a relatively easy call

It won’t surprise too many people living anywhere within striking distance of Llanandras Park to learn that the first team’s scheduled MMP with Norman Lloyd League second-division game at home to Borth United was postponed.

The match was due to take place on Saturday, 15 December and the pitch at Llanandras Park did pass a first inspection at around 9.00am.

But the heavy rain persisted throughout much of the morning and so club officials sensibly opted to take a second look at around 11.15am.

At this stage, it was abundantly clear there was no way the match would be able to go ahead and so the inevitable postponement was confirmed.

Given the distances involved in Borth’s journey and the fact there would have been concerns over their trip back to the coast after the game, it seemed the sensible thing to do.

Apologies for the lack of social media updates regarding the decision but I wasn’t aware of the situation and usually work on the premise of ‘no news is good news’.

Apologies to anyone who made the trip down to Llanandras Park only to then find out the game was called off.

There was no game scheduled for the Reserves today.

The first team will next be in action on Boxing Day when they’ll head to Hay St Mary’s for a league fixture.
