Double defeat to start the New Year

Presteigne St Andrews FC
No joy for either side this weekend

Presteigne St Andrews FC and Presteigne Reserves were both beaten in their opening matches of 2020.

The first team hosted Dolgellau in their MMP with Norman Lloyd, second-division fixture at Llanandras Park on Saturday, 4 January.

But it was the visitors who made the long trip home with the three points after they proved too strong for Alan Stocker’s side with a 5-1 victory.

As for the Reserves, they were also well beaten in their Mid Wales League (South) fixture at Penybont United.

Bryn Roberts’ side ended up on the wrong end of a 7-2 scoreline.

This defeat – combined with Rhayader Town Reserves’ 4-0 home win over Builth Wells Reserves saw the Ressies drop one spot to eleventh place in the league table.
