Home draw again in Radnorshire Cup

Presteigne St Andrews FC
Another home tie under the Llanandras Park floodlights

After years in which Presteigne St Andrews FC were seemingly unable to buy a draw at home in the majority of cup competitions they enter, things have certainly turned this season.

Three home draws in the Welsh Cup were followed by a home draw against Penybont in the Radnorshire Cup first round.

The reward for that narrow and somewhat fortunate win over Penybont is yet another home tie – although, at the moment, it is a case of  ‘either-or’ as to who will be visiting Llanandras Park.

Either way, it is likely that the game will prove every bit as taxing as the Penybont game as we have been paired with the winners of an outstanding first-round tie between two of the Mid Wales League (South)’s better sides in either Newcastle or Llanidloes Town.

Newcastle are the defending Mid Wales League (South) champions, while Llanidloes are always likely to be a strong outfit and they have already beaten our Reserves this season.

The full draw for the second round of the Radnorshire Cup is as follows:

Brecon Town or Radnor Valley v Llandrindod Wells
Knighton Town or St Harmon v Bronllys or Newbridge
Presteigne v Newcastle or Llanidloes Town
Rhosgoch or Rhayader Town v Builth Wells or Talgarth Town

Conference Date for the second round in Sunday October 28.

Those clubs drawn at home who have floodlights will play in the week prior to the conference date, which would explain why our game against Penybont in the last round was a mid-week affair, when all the other games were played on the Sunday afternoon.
