Presteigne St Andrews FC’s Under 18s’ match against Hinton, which was scheduled for Thursday, 17 January, has been postponed.
Your immediate reaction might be: ‘Well, given the frosty weather, maybe that isn’t too surprising’, but it has nothing to do with the weather.
Yes, we would probably have had to make a pitch inspection at some stage on Thursday to see if any frost had penetrated the pitch, but that decision will not now be necessary.
Hinton have informed us their manager is working away and they are unable to find anyone else to bring the team to Llanandras Park.
Clearly this will be a major frustration for manager Roy Simcock and his squad – they have now played only two of their last 11 fixtures – well, they have actually started three, but the Fownhope game was then abandoned.
The next scheduled game for the Under 18s will be on Thursday, 24 January when they are due to go Lads Club.
The weather forecast for Friday and Saturday is not great – the first team is due to host Abermule at Llanandras Park on Saturday, 19 January but if the snow comes as predicted, then there would have to be some doubt over that game.
But, just to stress, that game is very much ON at the moment, although it might well be worth check back here later in the week in case the situation changes.
