Ressies head to Hay

Presteigne St Andrews FCBuilth Wells’ stay at the top of the top of the Spar Mid Wales League, division one proved to be a short one as they were beaten 4-0 at home by Montgomery Town.

Llanidloes Town are back in pole position – they ran out 3-0 winners at Welshpool Town and are a point clear at the top with three games in hand over Builth.

Four Crosses remain in third place, but they lost ground in going down 3-2 at Aberystwyth University, while Berriew are fourth after they beat visiting Newbridge 5-1 – the third week running the Villagers have shipped five goals.

Waterloo Rovers saw off Dyffryn Banw 1-0 to remain in touch in fifth place, but Aberaeron lost further ground when they went down 2-0 at home to Tywyn Byncrug.

In the day’s other games in Division One, Llansantffraid Village went down 2-1 at home to Carno, while the bottom side – Dolgellau – picked up only their fourth point of the season as they 3-3 with visiting Bow Street.

In the second division, unusually all five matches played resulted in away wins. Llanfair United remain 10 points clear at the top after they won 7-2 at Talgarth Town and second-placed Llandrindod Wells were 4-0 victors at Abermule.

Knighton Town are third – they won 3-2 at Aberdyfi, who remain bottom of the table, while Rhosgoch Rangers came away from Machynlleth with a 1-0 success. Kerry were the other victors at this level after they beat Hay St Marys 4-2 at Forest Road. The Bont-Presteigne game was postponed.

There were seven games scheduled for the Mid Wales League (South) with only Presteigne Reserves and Brecon Town picking up three points.

Presteigne Reserves came from behind to beat Talgarth Town Reserves 2-1 at Llanandras Park, while Brecon Town won 3-1 at Llandrindod Wells Reserves.

Title-chasing Penybont were held to a 1-1 draw at Bronllys, while it also finished 1-1 at Bucknell where Sennybridge were the visitors.

The Llanidloes Town-Builth Wells Reserves and St Harmon-Newcastle matches were both postponed while, at the time of writing, the result of the game between Knighton Town Reserves and Radnor Valley is not known.
