Presteigne St Andrews FC will host Berriew at Llanandras Park in the FAW Trophy on Saturday, 28 September and supporters are reminded that it will be a 2 o’clock kick off.

While the recent Welsh Cup tie against Four Crosses kicked off at the more traditional time of 2.30pm, we are advised that tomorrow’s game will be a 2.00pm start – even though we have floodlights.

Clearly a lot of sides in the FAW Trophy don’t have lights and presumably the FAW have decreed there should be one blanket kick off time so as to avoid any possible confusion.

This is promising to be a very tough game for Danny Williams’ side as Berriew have been in fine from in the Spar Mid Wales League, first division so far this season.

They top the table with a record of six wins from their opening seven games, so they will clearly be a decent test.

Berriew’s only defeat came last weekend, though, when they were beaten 2-0 at home by Aberaeron.

But they will also know that Presteigne have started their season well and Berriew will be well aware that we have already ousted Four Crosses from the Welsh Cup, so it’s a fair bet that they won’t be taking us lightly.

As for the Reserves, they will be in derby action when they will make the trip to Radnor Valley for a Mid Wales League (South) game.

Player-manager Mark Weiland was left frustrated last week as, for a variety of reasons, he was missing four or five regular players and they paid the price as they slumped to their first league defeat of the season in going down 3-0 at Llanidloes Town Reserves.

He will be hoping to have some of those back for this weekend’s trip to a Radnor Valley side that is surprisingly struggling for form in the league this time around.

Radnor are three points adrift at the bottom of the table and are still seeking their first win of the Mid Wales League (South) campaign.

But this is a derby game and, as we all know, form counts for little in these matches, so ‘Weedo’ and his team will not be taking anything for granted as they prepare for this one.

A reminder then the first team game in the FAW Trophy will kick off at 2.00pm – please don’t get there late!

The admission prices will be the usual £2.50 for adults, £1.50 for senior citizens and £1.00 for youngsters under the age of 16.
