The Reserves were on song against Llanidloes

My thanks to vice-chairman Tom Ammonds for sending over his considered thoughts on last Saturday’s fine win for the Reserves at home to Llanidloes Town Reserves.

“The Ressies put in their best performance of the season I believe – it must have been because the manager wasn’t there; it is a long story!” said Tom.

“Alan Stocker scored within the first couple of minutes before Duane doubled the advantage.

“The Llanidloes keeper was then sent off for deliberate handball outside the box before they pulled one back just before half-time.

[Editor’s note: Fair play to the Llanidloes keeper who, in the stand afterwards reportedly admitted he was well outside the box when he handled it – no complaints from him at all, which was refreshing in itself]

“So we were 2-1 to the good at half-time and the second half was end-to-end stuff throughout – really good stuff.

“Shaun Prince scored our third goal to kill off the game before Ieuan Crowe was sent off for violent conduct,” added Tom.

It is at this point in his report that our vice-chairman comes over ‘all Arsene Wenger’ as he writes: ‘I was in the clubhouse so didn’t see the incident!’

Apparently we were also denied a stonewall penalty after it was adjudged the foul was outside the box when even a Llani player or official admitted it looked nearer the penalty spot.

But well done to the Reserves on what was a fine win as Llanidloes Town Reserves are usually a strong side and so this would have to go down as one of the best results of the season – if not the best.
