2016 is threatening to start as 2015 largely finished, with postponements the theme of the day for Saturday, 2 January.

Both of the club’s scheduled matches for today have been called off due to waterlogged pitches.

The first team had been due to take on Newbridge in a Radnorshire derby game at Llanandras Park but a look at the pitch on New Year’s Day led to the game being in doubt and a further inspection on Saturday morning led to club officials making the only decision open to them – match postponed.

It was a very similar situation in south Shropshire where the Reserves were due to head for a Mid Wales League (South) game against Newcastle.

That game, too, has been called off and so the Ressies can now look forward to a home game against Builth Wells Reserves on Saturday, 9 January – assuming it dries up a bit.

As for the first team, they will be on the road again next weekend when they will head to Dyffryn Banw.

All of which means Mark Weiland is going for something of a record – the longest any new manager of a football club has had to wait to take charge of his first home game.

‘Weedo’ took charge in mid-November and is yet to send his side out for a game at Llanandras Park!
