If, on reading the headline, you thought Duane Anning and John Bright were taking their squad for a quiet country ramble for a bit of rest and recuperation, then nothing could be further from the truth.

The Reserves will round off their season with two Tuesday-night away games, starting with a trip to Llanidloes Town Reserves on Tuesday, 19 April.

This is likely to be a very tough trip for a whole host of reasons – not least, even getting a squad to Llanidloes for a midweek game could prove an issue, but at least Llani have lights and it is a 7.30pm kick off, so this ought to make things a little easier.

The Reserves are in dire need of a lift – it has been 10 games and a host of postponements in all competitions since they last tasted victory and the management duo won’t want this run continuing through to the end of the season.

They last tasted that winning feeling on 28 November, so it could be said they are due a three-point haul.

Given the first team have now finished their league programme, it might well be that Duane and ‘Brighty’ can bring in a few reinforcements for this game, but there is always that delicate balancing act of not alienating those players who have stuck by you and helped you out throughout the season.

In truth, it is very likely to come down to who can get off work in time to make the the trip so they can arrive at Llanidloes in some sort of shape to play football that will dictate just what sort of a side we field for this one.

But then it’s always a case of swings and roundabouts at this time of the season as a week on Tuesday, Brecon Town will have to make the trip to Llanandras Park for what could prove a vital game in their promotion bid, so we are certainly not the only club facing a long midweek trip.

So, the kick off at Llanidloes Town Reserves will be at 7.30pm and it’s hoped to have the result up online on Tuesday evening, with the considered thoughts of the management team following shortly afterwards.
