Tuesday-night action for the Reserves

Presteigne Reserves will head into their penultimate league game of the Mid Wales League (South) season on Tuesday, 26 April.

They will host Brecon Town at Llanandras Park in what is sure to be a testing game for Duane Anning and John Bright’s side.

Brecon need to finish in the top two if they are to be considered for promotion to the Spar Mid Wales League for next season and they still have a bit to do.

They are battling away with Knighton Town Reserves for the runners-up spot as Rhayader Town Reserves appear to have the league title all but wrapped up – put it this way, if they lose it from here, there would be a few pointed questions in that corner of Radnorshire.

Brecon are currently two points better off than Knighton’s second string, who will head to Rhayader Town Reserves the following evening.

So, there is no doubt that Brecon will see this as a good chance to put clear blue water between them and Knighton Reserves, especially if Rhayader do the same to Knighton as they did to Brecon Town on Saturday, 23 April.

It might have been ‘first v second’ at The Weirglodd, but Rhayader Reserves ran out 6-0 winners in that one to go six points clear with two games in hand.

But Duane and ‘Brighty’s’ side will be buoyed up after their fine win at Llanidloes Town a week ago, and they can still have a major say in the title race as their only other remaining match will be against Rhayader Town Reserves.

Kick off at Llanandras Park for the Brecon Town game on Tuesday, 26 April will be at 7.30pm and admission will be £2.00 for adults and £1.00 for senior citizens and youngsters under the age of 16.
