After yesterday was spent digesting the fixtures for September in which the Reserves, in particular, seem to be playing most nights of the week rather than Saturdays, it’s refreshing to report both teams will be turning out at the traditional time on Saturday, 27 August.

The first team, with Tom Ammonds newly confirmed as the manager, will host Llansantffraid Village in their Spar Mid Wales League game at Llanandras Park. (Kick Off: 2.30pm)

After a battling point against Penybont and then the frustrations of ‘the one that got away’ in the Welsh Cup against Borth United, Tom will be looking to his players to build on that this weekend.

After all, he’s had the draw and the defeat so far, so a win to complete the set would be very much in order…

Llansantffraid Village have four points from their opening four matches in the shape of one win and one draw.

Their win came at Churchstoke, while their latest result was a 2-1  home defeat by Four Crosses on Wednesday night.

A huge thanks to S.Kay Construction Ltd for their kind sponsorship of the match through their kit donation.

As for the Reserves, well, Dale Tomkins’ debut as the ‘full-time’ manager of the squad promises to be a test – they are off to Rhayader Town Reserves.

Any trip to the Weirglodd in recent seasons has usually proved a serious test as Rhayader’s second string have pretty much dominated the Mid Wales League (South) title race in the last few years.

But the perceived wisdom is that if we are able to field a reasonably consistent side in the Ressies this season, then there’s no reason why we should not be heading in the right direction.

The best of luck to both sides – here’s hoping we have something to celebrate on Saturday evening.

A reminder that admission prices for the first-team game will be £3.00 for adults, £1.50 for senior citizens and £1.00 for youngsters under the age of 16.
