One defeat and one draw at the weekend

Presteigne St Andrews FC
A tough day on the road
Presteigne St Andrews FC
A battling draw for the Reserves at Llanandras Park

Presteigne St Andrews went down 3-0 in their Spar Mid Wales League, second division match at Kerry on Saturday, 22 October.

This was always likely to be a tough test as Kerry who started the day at the top of the table.

But, despite their victory over Presteigne, Kerry actually lost the leadership of the division as their main rivals, Borth United, were 4-0 winners over Builth Wells and so they took over pole position.

The early indications are that Presteigne put in a decent shift at Kerry – they trailed only 1-0 at half-time and battled hard throughout.

I hope to have a few more details and some reaction from manager Tom Ammonds over the next 24 hours or so.

As for the Reserves, they did well to fight back to earn a point from a 2-2 draw with Brecon Northcote in their Mid Wales League (South) fixture at Llanandras Park.

Northcote were second in the table when they arrived at Llanandras Park and they showed why early on as they took a 2-0 lead over Dale Tomkins’ side.

But goals from Duane Anning and Jordan McQueen ensured that the Reserves took a point from the game and so remain firmly in the title race.
