Presteigne St Andrews FC’s manager Tom Ammonds has been reflecting on the side’s 3-0 home defeat by Spar Mid Wales League second-division leaders, Borth United on Saturday, 29 October.

‘Ammo’ said there were some encouraging signs from the performance, but it was clear his players need to more clinical at both ends of the field.

He also felt it had underlined the point that – against the better sides in the league – you can’t afford to switch off for a minute.

“It was always going to be a tough game against Borth as obviously they are flying high in the league and they are a very good footballing side,” said Tom.

“We’re just shooting ourselves in the foot at the moment with our defensive aspect of the game.

“We keep ourselves in the game and we’re doing ever so well, then we have these little lapses in concentration and it’s costing us,” he added.

The first team will return to action on Saturday, 5 November when they will make the trip to Churchstoke.

There will be previews of that game and the Reserves’ home tie against Maesglas in the J Emrys Morgan Cup – these will be posted on Friday, 4 November.
