Not the finest of weekends….

A tough day on the road
Presteigne St Andrews FC
Not the best of weekends for our two teams

Presteigne St Andrews FC endured a disappointing weekend in terms of results as both sides slipped to defeats, with both shipping three goals in the process.

The first team headed to Aberystwyth University  for their Spar Mid Wales League, second division game knowing this was likely to prove a difficult game.

Not only were the first team missing a clutch of players for a variety of reasons, but the Uni side had shown they were likely to be a force to be reckoned with by beating the leaders, Borth United, 3-0 in a recent outing.

Unfortunately, it wasn’t to be for Tom Ammonds’ side as they went down to a 3-0 defeat – a result that has the first team looking over its shoulder towards the foot of the table.

To be fair to those who travelled, I gather they gave it their all, but on the day it just wasn’t going to happen for ‘Ammo’s’ side and they slipped to their eighth defeat of the season.

It is amazing to think that we haven’t even reached the end of November and yet the first team now has only 10 league matches remaining this season.

As for the Reserves, they went down 3-2 at home to St Harmon in the Pip Samuel (Electrical) Mid Wales League (South) Cup.

Tom Crichton scored both goals for Dale Tomkins’ side as they had, too, had to shuffle the pack after a number of players were called into the first-team squad.

In total, nine players were missing for various reasons and this clearly impacted on our ability to field competitive sides in both games.
