Presteigne St Andrews FC’s manager Tom Ammonds admitted there was very much an ‘end-of-season’ feel to his side’s showing in the defeat at Llansantffraid Village on Saturday, 18 March.

‘Ammo’ said it had been tough to field a full squad for the trip and they had ended up travelling with only 13 players -this was especially disappointing as the Reserves were without a game that day.

If you would like to see a video of Tom’s thoughts on the match then you can do so either by clicking here or on the image at the top of the page.

Tom was grateful to those players who had made the trip but felt the side had struggled to get out of bottom gear for much of the match.

“It was a typical end-of-season game, really as time went by in the game and it was just one of those days,” he admitted.

“Because the league has been so disjointed and you’re playing one week and then having two weeks off and then playing another game and having three weeks off, you just can’t get yourself flying for the game.”

There is no game for the first team on Saturday, 25 March; they will round off their league season on Wednesday, 5 April when they will host Churchstoke at Llanandras Park in a 7.30pm kick off.

But the Reserves will be in action at Llanandras Park when they will take on Builth Wells Reserves in a Mid Wales League (South) game.

Back-to-back home defeats by Hay St Mary’s Reserves and then Knighton Town Reserves were clearly a set back to hopes of a top-three finish.

But Dale Tomkins will be keen for his side to finish the league season on a high note and will feel there are winnable games ahead.

Builth Wells Reserves are one place and four points behind the Reserves in the league table so this could prove a keenly contested affair.

The kick off at Llanandras Park on Saturday, 25 March will be at 2.30pm and admission prices will be the usual £2.00 for adults and £1.00 for senior citizens and youngsters under the age of 16.
