The Reserves will take on title-chasing Talgarth Town

Presteigne Reserves will return to Mid Wales League (South) action on Saturday, 15 April when they will host title hopefuls Talgarth Town at Llanandras Park.

The Ressies have two games to go with St Harmon to come to Llanandras Park on 22 April, so they will be aiming to end the season on something of a high note.

A win for Dale Tomkins’ side against Talgarth Town would drop not so much a spanner, but rather a complete socket set in the visitors’ title ambitions.

But Talgarth will have plenty of incentive when they turn up for this one – realistically, if they are to have a chance of winning the Championship, they have to win their final two matches and then hope Hay St Mary’s Reserves lose their way over the final weeks of the season.

Talgarth have been up there throughout the season and have won four of their last five league games.

The one defeat came when they went down 3-2 at home to Hay’s second string and this could prove decisive in what is looking like a three-way fight for the title.

Hay St Mary’s Reserves have a two-point lead at the top of the table with a game in hand, while Brecon Northcote and Talgarth both remain in contention should the Forest Road club slip up at any stage.

Talgarth will need to win tomorrow and then at Builth Wells Reserves next week when they know something will have to give elsewhere as Brecon Northcote will head to Hay Reserves for what will also be Northcote’s final game of the season.

Hay St Mary’s Reserves will wrap up their season with a potentially tricky game at Knighton Town Reserves on 29 April, so it’s not yet done and dusted.

So, it’s ‘game on’ at Llanandras Park on Saturday, 15 April when the kick off will be at 2.30pm.

Admission prices will be the usual £2.00 for adults and £1.00 for senior citizens and youngsters under the age of 16.
