The first team’s Spar Mid Wales League fixtures for August and September have been published and are now up on the website.
The good news is that, given there are only 13 clubs in division two this season, the league has sensibly dispensed with the early-season mid-week fixtures.
These caused us and other clubs locally a major issue in recent years as players often found it difficult to finish work and get to away games in time for a 6.30pm kick off.
We will start with a game at newly-promoted Talgarth Town on Saturday, 12 August followed by our first home match a week later in which Dolgellau will be the visitors to Llanandras Park.
Shaun Harris’ side and the Dolgellau squad will certainly know each other well by the end of the month as a week later it will be the return trip to Dolgellau – so, two games against the same opponents in as many weeks.
This could well be down to the fact we haven’t entered the Welsh Cup while, I assume, neither have Dolgellau so this makes them obvious league opponents on a Welsh Cup Conference date (19 August).
Friday-night football looms large in September with home games against both Penybont United (1 September) and Newbridge-on-Wye (15 September).
We have blank weekends on Saturday, 9 and Saturday, 23 September although the first of these is probably down to our having a bye in the first round of the FAW Trophy.
We will round off September with an away trip to Montgomery Town on Saturday, 30 September.
