Presteigne St Andrews FC will face their second away game of the week when they head to Llansantffraid Village on Saturday, 23 September.

Shaun Harris’ side is in good form – the 4-2 win over Newbridge in the league a week ago was followed up by a Radnorshire Cup victory at Llandrindod Wells on Wednesday night.

Llansantffraid picked up their first league win of the season in the week when they saw off Hay St Mary’s 3-0 in a home game.

Their other league games so far this season have both been draws away from home – 4-4 at Abermule and 2-2 at Hay St Mary’s.

Curiously, then, Llansantffraid have played just the three games – and yet two of them have been against Hay.

Shaun’s squad will be in confident frame of mind as they head into this one and they will be hoping lightning strikes twice in the same place.

When they went to Llandrindod in the week it was a repeat of last season’s Radnorshire Cup tie in which Presteigne had been well beaten and yet they turned that around by coming away with a victory.

Similarly, we had two trips to Llansantffraid last season – one in the league in which we lost 2-0 and one in the ER Jenkins Cup first-round tie that resulted in an extra-time defeat.

Here’s hoping we can upset the FAW Trophy form book as our record in this competition in recent seasons has been – well, how can we put it?  ‘Pretty poor’ would probably cover it.

You have to go back to 29 September 2012 for our last win in the competition when we beat Bont 5-3 at Llanandras Park.

According to the FAW website, the game at Llansantffraid on Saturday will kick off at 2.30pm.

The Reserves have no fixture scheduled for this weekend.
