Presteigne St Andrews FC put up a battling performance in their Spar Mid Wales League, second-division game at Llansantffraid Village on Saturday, 11 November, but they came away empty-handed.

Club chairman Andy Crowe felt we were bang in the game up until half-time.

“This was a good all-round performance in tough conditions,” he said.

“Presteigne started well creating good chances to score but then the home side grew into the game and the first half ended 0-0.

“The second half continued to be well contested until a slip in the box let in a Llansantffraid striker to put it away.

“Only the crossbar stopped a great Matt Strangwood effort from drawing us level.

“But, with 15 minutes to go, two fine corner kick deliveries saw the home side seal a 3-0 victory,” he added.

Manager Shaun Harris felt the result had been tough on his side.

“The boys deserved a lot more from today’s game, but that’s football.

“Credit to the 12 lads that travelled up for us – they certainly didn’t let anyone down and battled for the full 90 minutes.”

But the Reserves  march on in the J Emrys Morgan Cup after they beat visiting St Harmon 4-2 in their delayed second-round tie at Llanandras Park.

I don’t have any details yet as to goalscorers but will add these in when they come to hand.

Well done to the Reserves – a good win and here’s hoping they get a good draw in the third round.
