Presteigne Reserves were due to head to Rhayader Town for a Mid Wales League (South) fixture on Wednesday, 22 November.
But we can now confirm that game has been called off after a pitch inspection at the Weirglodd confirmed the ground was waterlogged.
We are grateful to Rhayader Town FC who flagged up the potential issues early – their youth-team game scheduled for Tuesday was also called off, so it was obvious there was always the chance of this one going by the wayside.
If we have had a reasonable rainfall in our corner of the empire in the past few days, then there is every chance they might have had more in Rhayader – after all, when they built those dams in the Elan Valley, they put them there for a reason.
But, given the fact there are only 11 clubs in the Mid Wales League (South) this season, fixture congestion is hardly likely to be a major issue so there will be plenty of other opportunities to reschedule the game.
The Reserves have no game this coming weekend but will return to action on Saturday, 2 December when they will head to Ffostrasol for their third-round tie in the J Emrys Morgan Cup.
