‘Ammo’ was far from impressed by the Reserves’ start to the game

My thanks to the Reserves’ assistant-manager Tom Ammonds for sending me his considered thoughts on Saturday’s disappointing 5-2 defeat at Llandrindod Wells Reserves.

“To say we started in a sloppy manner is an understatement – we went 2-0 down within the first five minutes,” said Tom.

“These were extremely poor goals for us to concede at anytime, let alone that early.

“We had been defended well in the previous games but this wasn’t to be the case and so this was always going to be a long haul back.

“Llan’dod seemed hungrier than us from the first whistle which is disappointing as the warm up was very good.

“We managed to stem the tide a little prior to half-time but found ourselves 3-1 down at the break with Liam Tomkins pulling one back for us when he prodded in from a knock down.

“Tom Lewis hit the post with a rocket but Llan’dod had numerous chances to extend their lead.

“The second half began with us kicking down the hill and we started much more brightly.

“We knocked the ball around ok after we had stressed the importance to move the ball quicker but we got hit by a sucker punch with Paul Bishop completing his hat-trick to pretty much see us off.

“We scored a very late goal on through Tim Office to make the score 5-2.

“We huffed and puffed second in the second half but lacked that cutting edge in the final third and this is something on which we need to improve.

“Having said that, we also need to be able to manage a game better as we left ourselves too open at times.

“Llan’dod were very worthy winners and we wish them all the best for the rest of the season.

“We look forward to our first Saturday home game of the season against Hay St.Marys Reserves – let’s hope the weather holds out.

With regards to the squad, we know that Jordan Griffiths is unavailable and then will have to wait to see if Shaun needs anyone.”
