Mixed fortunes over the weekend

One away draw and one away defeat

Presteigne St Andrews FC came home from Abermule with a hard-earned point after their MMP with Norman Lloyd league, second-division clash ended in a 3-3 draw.

This was the second-successive 3-3 draw for the first team following on from the home match against Hay St Mary’s the previous weekend.

Duane Anning scored twice for the first team with Ewan Rhodes also on target.

Apparently, Presteigne were 1-0 up but then, later in the game, they found themselves 3-1 down so this represented a good fight back.

As for the Reserves, well, sadly, it wasn’t to prove a case of ‘Many Happy Returns’ after their month away from competitive action.

Alan Stocker and Tom Ammonds’ side went down 3-1 in their Mid Wales League (South) fixture at Knighton Town Reserves.

The management team was bitterly disappointed with this showing in which their side was 2-0 down before a Billy Hyatt goal put them back in it.

Neither side was greatly helped by a lengthy delay in the second half while the referee apparently insisted someone was removed from the ground and Knighton then went on wrap up the win when they netted the third.

While it was felt the hold up certainly didn’t help, Tom Ammonds says they are not using that as an excuse as the Reserves were second-best on the day and got what they deserved.
