The pitch was never going to dry out between now and kick off time tomorrow

Further to the earlier post in which we reported there would be a pitch inspection on Saturday morning at 10.00am, we can now update you with news the game has already been called off.

Presteigne Reserves were due to host Penybont United in a Mid Wales League (South) game on Saturday, 16 March and the plan had been to give it every chance by taking a look on the morning of the game.

But an inspection at lunchtime on Friday rendered this plan surplus to requirements with conditions at Llanandras Park described as ‘dreadful’.

So, it’s a case of ‘match postponed’ for the Reserves and we’ll let you know of a new date for the fixture as soon as that information comes through.

We are in good company as a host of scheduled games across Mid Wales have already been called off due to the state of the respective pitches.

The Reserves will next be in action on Saturday, 23 March when they will, once again, attempt to play their Pip Samuel (Electrical) Mid Wales League (South) Cup quarter-final tie against Hay St Mary’s Reserves at Llanandras Park.
