A big win for Presteigne over Hay

Presteigne St Andrews FC recorded a fine win under the lights at Llanandras Park on Wednesday, 20 April.

John Haycox’s side proved too good for Hay St Mary’s Reserves on the night as they ran out five-one winners in their Mid Wales League (South) fixture.

Josh Pearce and Sam Davies each scored twice with Lewis Jones also on target.

Tom Lewis played a part in at least three of the goals in what was a very good all-round team performance and this result should set up the squad for the trip to Felindre on Saturday, 23 April.

There should be no shortage of incentive for Presteigne in this one as victory at Felindre would see them move about Saturday’s hosts in the league table.

Felindre have had a solid season – they are currently in seventh spot in the division with 23 points from their 18 matches so far.

As things stand, they are three points ahead of Presteigne but a win for John’s side would take them above Felindre on goal difference.

Presteigne also have two games in hand over Felindre and no fewer than four games in hand over Knighton Town Reserves who are sixth in the table.

The kick off at Felindre on Saturday will be at 2.30pm.
