Under 18s win… so do CP Llanandras, but without kicking a ball!

It is now three straight league wins for the Under 18s

Presteigne St Andrews Under 18s saw off the challenge of visiting Ledbury Swifts with a bit to spare as they ran out comfortable 5-1 winners in their HFA Floodlit Youth League encounter at Llanandras Park.

First-half goals from Callum Matthews and Connor Bird put Presteigne on their way, but Ledbury reduced arrears before the interval.

Taran Lewis made it 3-1 as Presteigne, before Josh Watson raced through to beat the visiting keeper for the fourth.

Callum Matthews wrapped it up when he ran on to a ball played over the top before rounding the keeper for the fifth goal.

A more detailed match report is now up on the Under 18s page of the site – thanks to Trevor Gummer for taking the late-night phone call and for passing on the necessary information.

There was good news for CP Llanandras who moved through to the semi-finals of the Bucknell Cup and a game against Presteigne Reserves without even having to kick a ball.

After three or four postponements Hinton Reserves and CP Llanandras had agreed to settle the tie by the toss of a coin and referee Jeff Beamond did the necessary with Hinton joining us on a phone link (technical stuff, eh?).  Fortunately for CP Llanandras, Hinton called incorrectly and so ‘Crowie’s’ side are through to their second semi-final of the season.
