Presteigne Reserves captain Alan Stocker again underlined his cricketing abilities with a very decent all-round effort in a Bank Holiday Monday win for the town’s cricket club.

Presteigne were playing a touring side from Lancashire – Ormskirk Association – on the John Beddoes School field and Alan was to be the main man with the bat for the home side as he made 75 not out in a Presteigne total of 216-5 in their 40 overs.

He then proved a further thorn in the tourists’ collective side by picking up 3-28 with the ball as Ormskirk were restricted to 139-8 in reply as Presteigne ran out convincing 77-run winners.

Alan won the Sunday bowler-of-the-year title at the cricket club dinner last September and appears to have picked up from where he left off this time around.

If anyone knows of any other football club members who are in good touch with either bat or ball – or both – during the off-season, then let us know by email, and we will gladly give them an honourable mention.
