Presteigne St Andrews’ manager Barry Williams has confirmed he will be taking a side to Wellington on Tuesday 20 July for a pre-season friendly.

Barry had been looking to arrange a game this week and explained that this match had come about after Wellington’s original opponents pulled out.

“The reason we picked up this game is that Malvern have let them down late in the day,” he said.

“So we are going to pick up the fixture all of which means there will be no training on Tuesday night but will be back on Thursday evening when we will start at 6.45pm at the school.

“Hopefully we will be able to try a few different lads from the last game and let everyone have a chance to show what they have got,” he added.

Meanwhile Reserve-team manager Andy Crowe has confirmed he has arranged a fixture against Pencombe at Llanandras Park for Saturday 31 July.

“I am looking to bolster the squad as Jordan Pritchard has broken his wrist and so will be out for around eight weeks minimum,” Andy told presteignestandrewsfc.co.uk.

“Also, Andy White has cracked ribs so he will miss pre-season as he is facing five weeks on the sidelines.

“On top of this, there are two or three others who have cricketing commitments until the end of August, so we could do with a bit of cover in key areas,” he added.

In addition to the home match against Pencombe, the Reserves are due to take on Lads Club in the double header with the first team on Saturday 7 August when the kick off for the Reserves fixture will be at 4.30pm.

They are hoping to sort out at least one more pre-season game in order to ensure they are in top form for the start of the Mid Wales League (South) season.

The kick off in the home match against Pencombe will be at 2.30pm.
