Reserves match at Knighton is off

The Reserves' next scheduled home game is on Mondasy 3 January

Presteigne Reserves’ scheduled Boxing Day derby game at Knighton Town was called off at around 9.30am this morning.

To be honest, with overnight temperatures dropping to around minus 13 degrees, there never looked any chance of it being on and the only surprise was that the decision was left as late as it was.

Reserve-team manager Andy Crowe said it had been frustrating for a number of players who were looking to make alternative arrangements.

“Really, they could have called it off on Christmas Eve as there was no way we were going to play,” he said.

“A number for our players were keen to know as they wanted to head off to watch Premier League games.

“I suppose Knighton wanted to give it every chance, but we never seriously thought there was any chance of the game being on,” he added.

The Reserves are next due in action on Monday 3 January when they will host Knighton Town at Llanandras Park – assuming the ice age has ended by then.
