Presteigne St Andrews FC
The home match against Knighton Town on 31 December will kick off at noon

Presteigne St Andrews FC will head into the Christmas period knowing they face back-toback games against old rivals Knighton Town between now and the turn of the year.

The first of these games will be at Bryn-y-Castell on Boxing Day when the kick off will be at 2.30pm, with the return match being at Llanandras Park on New Year’s Eve with it will be a midday kick off.

The reason for the early start on New Year’s Eve is that the committee felt that, by the very nature of the day, people have other things on in the evening and so we requested the midday kick off in the hope that some might decide to start their celebrations in the clubhouse immediately after the game.

On the face of it, Knighton will be red-h0t favourites for both matches – they have had a very solid season so far while a look at the league table tells you that Presteigne have found it tough going.

But it is one of the oldest cliches in football – and only a cliche because it is true – that strange things can happy in derby games and so Presteigne will be looking to upset the form book in at least one of the matches.

There are no games for the Reserves over the Christmas period – they will return to action in the new year.

As for the Under 18s, they are not due to play again in the HFA Floodlit Youth League until they head to Hinton on 18 January.

If I get any team news from manager Trevor Gummer ahead of the Boxing-Day game at Knighton I will add it in, but just a reminder that it will be a 2.30pm kick off.
