Four Crosses – seven goals – no points

Presteigne St Andrews FC
More frustration for first-team boss Trevor Gummer

Presteigne St Andrews FC crashed to a 7-0 defeat in their Spar Mid Wales League, second division match at Four Crosses and the early reports suggest they can have absolutely no complaints about the margin of defeat in this one.

In fact, my sources tell me that, were it not for a good showing by Darryl Gower in the Presteigne goal, then the home side could easily have won by a double-figure scoreline.

The general view was that, while Four Crosses are clearly one of the better sides in the division, too many Presteigne players were way below par in this one.

Trailing by four goals at half-time, any hopes of a comeback were soon dashed as Four Crosses went on to net three more times after the interval.

The game ended on an unsavoury note with a clash between a home-team player and Adriano Girolami in which ‘Adj’ was the innocent party, but this went unnoticed by the referee – so, all in all, we have had far better days.

The Reserves fared better in their Mid Wales League (South) game at home to Bucknell in which they battled out a 4-4 draw.

Kyle Chillery netted twice for Stuart Skidmore’s side, with Bobby Morgan and Tom Durant also on target although not necessarily in that order.

I will be badgering both managers for match reports over the next couple of days and as soon as the material is forthcoming I will post it on the teams’ respective pages on the site.
