Reserves to round things off on Saturday

Presteigne St Andrews FC
'Skiddy' will be looking for a winning farewell as Reserve-team boss

Presteigne Reserves will round off their Mid Wales League (South) programme on Saturday, 28 April when they will head to The Broadway to take on Llandrindod Wells Reserves.

After putting a sizeable spanner in the works of Penybont’s efforts to secure the runners-up spot in the league on Tuesday night, Stuart Skidmore’s side will be in upbeat mood as they head to Llan’dod for this one.

If we are being honest, not too many people would have fancied ‘Skiddy’s’ boys’ chances at the Racecourse, but they confounded the critics to come away with a fine point from a 2-2 draw.

Given there is no game for the first team, ‘Skiddy’ might have a few more players at his disposal for this one, but this is pure supposition on my part as I have no idea how strong a squad he has named.

It would be remiss of me not to mark the fact that this will be Stuart’s last game in charge of the Reserves as he has announced his intention to stand down from the role at the end of the season.

I am sure everyone connected with the club – and especially the Reserve-team squad and committee members – would like to thank ‘Skiddy’ for his efforts throughout the season.

It is often the lot of the Reserves’ boss that you can suddenly find yourself losing a couple of players on a Saturday morning as the first team is short, but the Reserves have overcome this and have produced some good results along the way.

On a personal note, I would like to thank ‘Skiddy’, along with Trevor Gummer and Roy Simcock for their full cooperation in getting match reports to me for the website, while a number of the junior-team managers have also been very good at sending in information this season.

We hope ‘Skiddy’ will remain with Presteigne St Andrews FC in some capacity and here’s hoping the Reserves can round off the season in style.

The kick off at the Broadway on Saturday, 28 April will be at 2.30pm.
