Reserves update and Bont’s Eryl Evans

Presteigne St Andrews FC
Ressies head to Hay

Presteigne St Andrews FCPresteigne Reserves were beaten 4-2 in their Mid Wales League (South) fixture at Llanidloes Town Reserves on Friday, 20 March.

Early reports suggest the Ressies gave a good account of themselves in this one and that the game was, perhaps, tighter than the final score might suggest.

I am told we ‘bookended’ the scoring, with Alan Stocker putting us in front, before we then conceded three times before the break and then went 4-1 down after it.

But Spencer Napolitano netted the Reserves’ second to ensure we had the final say in a game in which – despite the defeat – player-manager Mark Weiland felt the side produced one of its best performances of the season.

On a separate note, Presteigne St Andrews FC was saddened to hear that the Bont player, Eryl Evans, sustained a broken leg during the Spar Mid Wales League, second division game at Llanandras Park on Thursday, 19 March.

Our apologies to Bont FC for only picking up on this now – Presteigne club officials tell me they were obviously aware Eryl had left the field during the game, but genuinely hadn’t realised the injury was so serious.

In fact, the only way we did realise the gravity of the injury was when one of us noticed it on the Bont FC official twitter feed on Friday.

Our best wishes to Eryl for a speedy recovery and – given the earlier issues with Simon Hamer and Alex Marsh – I am sure those from both clubs will be hoping that when the sides meet in next season’s fixtures that they are injury-free all round.
