Another home point for the first team

Presteigne St Andrews FC battled out a 1-1 draw in the Spar Mid Wales League, second division match against Bont at Llanandras Park on Thursday, 19 March.

The home side struck first when Callum Matthews put them ahead after around half an hour.

But Bont were level before the interval when a deflected shot looped past Anthony ‘Rambo’ Vernalls in the home team goal.

There were other chances – Mike Symonds hit the post with a 35-yard free kick, but to be fair to Bont they had their moments too.

‘Rambo’ made a couple of smart saves to ensure parity was maintained in the second half and the general view was that, while Presteigne created enough chances to have won it, Bont, too, might have nicked it, so a draw was probably about right.

A reminder that the Reserves will be in action on Friday, 20 March when they will head to Llanidloes Town Reserves for a 7.30pm kick off.

So, there will be no football at Llanandras Park on Saturday, 21 March – a day spent watching the rugby would appear to be in order, then.

The Reserve-team fixtures for the remainder of the season have also been published and these have been added into the fixture grid.
